      N THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I REUBIN LONG of County of Culpeper & Parish of St Marks being weak in body but of perfect sense mind and memory .. do think fit to make this my last Will and Testament .. Imprimis it is my will and desire that my just Debts and funeral expences be paid out of that part of my Estate which I lend to my beloved Wife.
      Item I give to my Son GABRIEL LONG all that I formerly lent him which he has in his possession to him & his heirs for ever.
      Item I give to my Son EVAN LONG all that tract of land I formerly lent him and is in his possession to him & his heirs for ever.
      Item I give to my Son ANDERSON LONG all that I formerly lent him and now in his possession to him and his heirs for ever.
      Item I give to my Son NIMROD LONG three young negroes namely Joe, Dinah & Alse, also first choice of two feather beds with their furniture as also my desk and large table, also one sorrel colt to wit the youngest I now have, and also first choice to two cows and calves after the decease of my loving Wife, I also give him all the land and plantation whereon I now live to him & his heirs for ever.
      Item I give to my Daughter FANNY RICHARDSON wife of DANIEL RICHARDSON all that I formerly lent her and has in her possion, also one negro girl Fanny to her and her heirs for ever.
      Item I give to my Daughter PEGGY KAY Wife of ROBERT KAY all that I formerly lent her & now in her possion to her and her heirs for ever.
      Item I give to my Daughter POLLY HARRISON NASH Wife of JOHN NASH all that tract I formerly lent her and in her possion to her and her heirs for ever.
      Item I give the whole residue and remainder of my Estate both real and personal to wit the land and plantation whereon I now live, also all my household and kitchen furniture and plantation tools and stock of every kind Except such of my stock and furniture as I have already mentioned, also the following negroes, Jonathan, George, Frank, Billy, Easter, Phillis, Hannah, Siliney, Sharlotte, Edie, Winney, Siley & Abil, also all my outstanding debts
      I lend to my beloved Wife MARY LONG during her natural life and if she shall see cause to lend any part of the aforesaid estate or the increase thereof to any of her children I leave that to her discretion, and after the decs. of my sd wife my desire is that all the said Estate Except as is before Excepted and disposed of together with the increase thereof to be equally divided between my seven children as above namely Gabriel, Evan, Anderson, Nimrod, Fanny, Peggy & Polly Harrison to them and their heirs for ever, and provided my son Nimrod should die before he enters into wedlock, my desire is that his estate as above mentioned be equally divided between the remain six as above named to them and their heirs for ever.
      And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved Wife Mary Long Executrix and my beloved son Gabriel Long, my beloved Son in Law Robert Kay and my beloved Friend ROBERT COLEMAN JUNR. Executors of this my last Will and Testament In Wit-
      ness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty ninth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety one.

      This last Will and Testament of Reuben Long exhibited to the Court and was proved by the oaths of Thomas Lindsey &Francis Apperson two of the Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded And at a Court held for the said County the 16th day of July 1792 Gabriel Long, Robert Kay and Robert Coleman Junr. the Executors named in the said Will came into Court and refused to take upon themselves the burthen of the Execution thereof And on the motion of Nimrod Long Letters of Administration with the Will annexed is granted him he having made Oath thereto and given Bond and security ac-
      cording to Law.

      THIS INDENTURE made the fifteenth day of October in year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy nine Between the Honourable GEORGE WILLIAM FAIRFAX Esquire, by CRAVEN PEYTON his Attorney in fact, of one part and JOHN NASH of Culpeper County of other part Witnesseth that GEORGE WILLIAM FAIRFAX in consideration of the Rents and covenants therein after mentioned on part of JOHN NASH to be paid and performed by these presents doth demise and to farm let unto JOHN NASH his heirs and assigns Two hundred and twelve acres of land with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the Parish for the County of Culpeper on the BEAVER DAM being part of a tract of land of fifteen hundred and seven acres and called BEAVERDAM and bounded Begining at a small Hickory bush and Pine tree on the line of the Original Patent corner to THOMAS HEDGES, extending thence with the said line South fifty four degrees East One hundred and forty four poles to two Pines Corner to JOHN REYNOLDS's land, thence with his line North Nineteen degrees East three hundred and fourteen poles to a Pine, another Corner of said REYNOLDS, the Patent, and Mr. JAMES PENDLETON, thence with his line South eighty eight West One hundred and thirty four poles to a small Hickory Stake, Corner to THOMAS HEDGES lot, thence with his line South twenty one West Two hundred and twenty four poles to the Begining containing Two hundred and twelve acres together with all profits commodities and appurtenances to the same belonging preserving to GEORGE WILLIAM FAIRFAX his heirs all mines, minerals and quarries whatsoever To have and to hold unto JOHN NASH his heirs and assigns from the date hereof during the natural lives of him said JOHN NASH, MARY NASH his Wife and EZEKIEL NASH their Son, paying unto GEORGE WILLIAM FAIRFAX every year on the tenth day of November one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight the rent of six pounds seven shillings and two pence current money of Virginia and JOHN NASH shall within the space of two years at furthest from the date hereof build or cause to be built a good Dwelling house twenty feet by sixteen and a barn twenty feet square after the manner of Virginia building or other houses and buildings equal thereto and also plant one hundred and fifty Apple trees and Two hundred Peach trees In Witness whereof the said parties (the said GEORGE WILLIAM FAIRFAX Esquire by CRAVEN PEYTON his Attorney in fact) have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written
