History of Boone Station State Historic Site
http://parks.ky.gov/findparks/histparks/bs/history/
HARDSHIPS: Daniel Boone and his family endured many hardships while living at Boone’s Station. Both his son Israel, and nephew Thomas Boone were killed at the Battle of Blue Licks in 1781. Boone’s brother, Edward was killed in Bourbon County by American Indians.
LOOSES LAND: By 1781, Boone’s claim to Boone Station proved to be worthless. He and other members of the settlement continued to live there for a brief period. However, by 1791 Boone Station had ceased to exist. In 1795, Robert Frank purchased 500 acres that included the Station site from Ambrose Gordon. Frank, and his wife Elizabeth became the first individuals to live on the land to have a clear legal title to the property. About 1795, Frank constructed a substantial stone dwelling on the site. By 1850 this structure had fallen into ruin, and soon disappeared.

TIP#211 – REVOLUTIONARY WAR BOUNTY RECIPIENTS - PART 3
----------
Archived with permission of Sandi Gorin "sgorin@glasgow-ky.com"
http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ky/Tips
This is a continuation of the officers and soldiers of Virginia who received
bounty lands in Kentucky. Not all of them settled in Kentucky after the war and
there is no way for me to verify that the following individuals actually came to
Kentucky. These are taken from old Quisenberry records.
According to the old records, Bounty lands were received primarily in Kentucky,
Indiana and Ohio. Major-Generals received from 15,000 to 17,500 acres; Colonels
normally received 8,888 acres; Lieutenant-Colonels normally received 6,666
acres; Majors normally received 5,333 acres; Surgeons and Surgeon’s Mates
received from 2,666 to 8,000 acres; Captains usually received 4,666 acres and
Lieutenants, Ensigns and Cornets received normally 2,666 acres.
The following lists show those Virginia officers and soldiers who received
bounty lands – however, no distinction is made as to in which state the land
lay. Not all of them located in Kentucky.

John Gordon’s Station: (1490 Shakertown Road; Kentucky Highway 33)
This is the site of John and Elizabeth Grayson Gordon’s second station, with the first station becoming the property of Stephen Trigg. John Gordon was killed at the Battle of Blue Licks, and his land was inherited by his son Ambrose Gordon.
The site for Shawnee Run Baptist Church, organized in 1788 under Reverend John Rice, was deeded from this property. This was the parent church to many area congregations.
