      Pages 156a-157. Will of Thomas Beard, being very sick and weak, dated 16 March 1697/8.
      Unto my eldest son John Beard my now dwelling plantation whereon I live with all the land belonging to it, being in two patingsā€ž and if my son John should die without an heir, to my youngest son Thomas Beard, and if he die without heire then to my daughter Mary Beard, and if my daughter die without an heir then to my cozen Francis Readman.
      To my eldest son John Beard my riding horse, bridle and saddle.
      To my son John two cows and calves by their side.
      To my son John Beard four barrows of four years old apiece and three sows and one barrow of one year old.
      To my son John my gun and all the rest of my movable estate. Hoggs and cattle to be equally divided between my son Thomas Beard and my daughter Mary Beard.
      My brother in law Robert Readman and my sister in law Mary Readman to look after my children and to be my executors.
