      Catherine Webb the relict and executrix of Elias Webb brought into Court the last will and testament of Elias and proved the same by Reuben Bayly and James Taylor, witnesses thereto. Order that Catherine Webb have the administration of the estate with this will annext. Capt. John Lord with Catherine doe assume in 30,000 pounds of tobacco for performance of the administration.
      The Court order that Reuben Bayley have 80 pounds of tobacco for one Court's attendance as a witness to the probate of Elias Webb's will and that Catherine Webb pay the same.

      Pages 108-09. 24 July 1697. David Browne of Washington Parish, Westmoreland County, to John Hore of same. With consent of his wife Elizabeth and for 3000 pounds of tobacco. 43 acres, his wife's share of land. Elias Webb late of Westmoreland County dyed possessed of a tract joining upon the land of Mr. John Scott and Mr. Andrew Monroe, containing 130 acres, and formerly belonged to John Knott of the aforesaid county, deceased, and being found to escheat by an inquisition under the hands and seals of Lte. Colo. Peter Ashton by virtue of his deputation from Colo. Miles Carey, Escheator General, 8 March 1663/4, and granted to Elias Webb by an escheate patten 30 April 1664. Elias Webb at his decease left one son Elias and three daughters Jane, Elizabeth and Sarah. His son Elias dieing in a short time before his father in his minority, the above tract fell successively to the three sisters as coheirrs's. David Browne married with Elizabeth one of the daughters and
      coheirs.

      Elias Webb, aged 26 yeares or thereabouts, saith that Mr. James Baldridge delivered to this deponent a bill of Mr. Mottershed of 370 pounds of tobacco to deliver the same to Mr. Hiller. This deponent told Mr. Hiller by order from Mr. Baldridge that they would reckon when they next mett but the bill was not assigned to Mr. Hiller.

      Elias Webb,: aged 47 yeares or therabouts, saith being at Mr. Stephen Manwering's house in 7ber [Sept.] 1673 he saw Mr. Manwering's maide verry bad with the survy and the next Court following my wife and my selfe came to Mr. Manwering's house againe and the servant maide was in theire bedd chamber and my wife told me she was in a sad condittion with the scurvy and my wife would had me to go in and see her but withall told me that she was so nasty a condittion that I did refuse to goe and that she did all under her.

      Mr. Lewis Markham, aged 38 yeares or therabouts, saith that comeing to Mr. Manwering's house in 7ber [Sept.] 1673 and there I saw Mr. Manwering's servant maid in a verry bad condittion with the survy and I did really thinke that she would not live and one of Mr. Manwering's daughters spake to her to doe something and she immediately fell downe as if she had bin a dying and Tho: Sharpe being in company told me that the maid was a dying but she came to her selfe againe and she was in Mr. Manwering's bed chamber and Elias Webb's wife told me that she did think the servant would not live.

      ""An entry on page 46 of the "Westmoreland County, Virginia Deeds & Wills", No 2, 1691-1699, abstracted and compiled by John Frederick Dorman, dated 24 July 1697, refers to a transaction between John Hore and David Browne regarding land originally "granted to Elias Webb by an escheate patten 30 April 1664 [which Elias Webb left to his three daughters, Jane, Elizabeth, and Sarah] His son Elias dying in a short time before his father in his minority, the above tract fell successively to the three sisters as coheir's.
