      Courtney's Will
      In the name of God Amen. I Mary Courtney of the Parish of Cople and county of Westmoreland being sick and weak of body but of good and perfect sense and memory to make this my last will and testament.
      Imprimis, I give unto my son Samuel Courtney my best bed and furniture.
      Item I give unto my daughter Rosamond Garner all my wearing apparel.
      Item I given to my granddaughter Mary Garner one gold ring of 10 shillings value.
      And all the remainder of my estate of what nature or kind soever I give and hereafter unto my four sons James Courtney, Leonard Courtney, Samuel Courtney and [Jeremiah Courtney] equally divided amongst them.
      And I do hereby constitute and appoint my two sons Leonard Courtney and Jeremiah Courtney to be my executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of July 1756 Mary Courtney (her mark)

At a court held for said County the 26th day of October 1756 this will was presented into Court by Leonard and Jeremiah Courtney the executors therein named who made oath thereto and the same being also proved by Samuel Rust & Peter Mullins two of the witnesses and on motion of said executors and their performing what the law in such cases requires certificate was granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.

      IN THE NAME OF GOD, Amen. I GERRARD BALL of Cople Parish and Westmorland County being very sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory praised be almighty God for the same, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following; First, I give my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who made it hoping thro the merits of Jesus Christ our blessed Saviour and Redeemer to receive full pardon and remission of all my sins, And my body to the Earth to be buryed at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named, And as touching my worldly goods & chattels which God of his infinite mercy hath bestowed upon me far beyond my deserts, I give and dispose the same as followeth, (vizt.)
      Imprimis. I give and bequeath unto my Aunt, MARY COURTNEY, for her use during her natural life my Negro woman named Betty and after my said Aunts decease, I give and bequeath the said Negro woman with her future increase to my Brother, SAMUEL BALL and his heirs,
      Item. I give and bequeath unto my Brother, BENONY BALL, eight hundred pounds of tobacco to be paid by my Executors hereafter named towards his Schooling and Education.
      Item. My will & desire is that my Negro woman be delivered imediately after my decease to my aforesaid Aunt during the term aforesaid;
      Item. I give and bequeath all the remaining part of my goods and chattels unto my Brother, SAMUEL BALL, whom I appoint Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, and also I appoint my Brother, GEORGE BALL, and my Neighbor, PETER RUST, Executors in trust to take care of such goods and chattels until my said Brother, SAMUEL BALL arrives to the age of Sixteen years, when I desire he may take the same into his possession; And I do hereby revoke make null void and of no effect all other Will or Wills heretofore by me made either by word or writing, publishing and declaring this to be my Last Will and Testament; In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of June Annoq.       This Last Will and Testament of GERRARD BALL, deceased, was presented into Court by PETER RUST and GEORGE BALL, Executors in Trust in the said Will named, who made Oath thereto and being proved by the Oath of JAMES THOMAS, JUNIOR, witness thereto, is admitted to Record: And upon the mocon of the said Executors and their performing what is usual in such case, Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form Test G.
