      THIS INDENTURE made the Eighth day of August Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and forty six, And in the nineteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the grace of God of Great Brittain France and Ireland. king, Defender of the faith &c., Between JAMES DONALDSON of County of FAIRFAX Goldsmith. and ANN his Wife of one part and JAMES BANKHEAD of County of Westmorland, Chirurgeon, of other part; Witnesseth tht JAMES DONALDSON and ANN his Wife in consideration of the sum of Ninety five pounds current money of Virginia to JAMES DONALDSON in hand paid by JAMES BANKHEAD, the receipt whereof JAMES DONALDSON doth hereby acknowledge hath and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto JAMES BANKHEAD his heirs all those two parcels of land containing by estimation Two hundred and twenty five and a half of land scituate in Parish of Washington in County of Westmorland, to wit, One hundred fifty one acres and a half thereof granted by an Escheat Deed from the Proprietors of the Northern Neck of Virginia to LEWIS MARKHAM, deced,, as fallen to Escheat by the death of GEORGE THORNE, who dying without disposing thereof and leaving no heir behind him as appears by the said deed bearing date the first day of December one thousand seven hundred and Eight, whereby it fully appears, the land reverted again to the Chief Lord of the fee and bounded; Beginning at a marked red Oak standing on South side of a Path that leads from MATTIX to NANJATICO, extending South 180 poles to the line of the land of Mr. STARKE, then West 160 poles. then North to the line of WILLIAM BALTHROP 122 poles, finally along said BALTHROPs line to the first station; And Seventy four acres the other part being also granted to LEWIS MARKHAM, deced., by an Escheat Deed from the Proprietors of the Northern Neck of Virginia bearing date the Seventh day of December one thousand seven hundred and Eight as fallen to Escheat by the death of THOMAS CARTER, dying without disposeing thereof and leaving no heir behind him as appears also by the said Ded whereby the seventy four acres of land reverted again and was vested in the Cheif Lord of the Fee, and is bounded; Beginning at a marked white Oak close upon the Westward side of STARKs Dam extending thence North 27 degrees and a quarter West 115 poles to a corner red Oak between this land and the land of BENJAMIN WEEDON, thence North 67 degrees fast one hundred and fifty eight poles to a red Oak corner tree to the land of GEORGE THORNE standing in the line of Mr, WILLIAM BALTHROP, thence South 93 poles to a white Oak. corner tree to the land of said THORNE close upon the Dam, thence up along close upon the South side of the meanders of the Dam to the first beginning. both which parcels of land contain together Two hundred and twenty five acres and a half: And LEWIS MARKHAM not disposeing thereof the same descended and became the proper Estate and inheritance of WILLIAM MARKHAM his Eldest Son and Heir at Law, who by his Last Will and Testment gave and devised the same to ELIZABETH his Wife to be sold by her for money to clear Debts as by the said Will may appear; which parcels of land were accordingly disposed of to JAMES DONALDSON as by Deed ofFeollment bearing date the Seventeenth day of November one thousand seven hundredand thirty five and acknowledged in the County of Court of Westmorland by THOMAS CONWAY who intermarried with ELIZABETH. the Relict and Executrix of WILLIAM MARKHAM, as by said Deed may appear: together with all houses orchards profits and appurtenances to the parcels of land belonging; To have and to hold the parcels of land and premises unto JAMES BANKHEAD his heirs: And JAMES DONALDSON and ANN his Wife for themselves their heirs doth covenant with JAMES BANKHEAD his heirs againstpersons shall warrant and forever defend by these presents: In Witness whereof the parties have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written Signed Sealed and Delivered in presence of us

At a Court continued and held for the said County the 25th day of February 1746/7 JAMES DONALDSON personally acknowledged this Deed of Feoffmest for Lands (together with Livery Seizes and Receipt for consideration thereon endorsed) by him passed to JAMES BANKHEAD, Gentleman, to be his proper act and deed, And ANN. the Wife of the said JAMES DONALDSON (being first privily examined according to Law, relinquished her right of Dower in and to the lands by the said Deed conveyed, which on motion of the said BANKHEAD is admitted to Record
