      THIS INDENTURE made the 1 lth day of January 1689 and in the first yeare of ye Reigne of or: Soveraigne Lord and Lady William and Mary &c. Between Mr. HUMPHREY BOOTH and PHEBE his Wife of County of Rappa Virginia of one part and HENRY NEWTON of sd County of other part Witnesseth ye sd HUMPHREY BOOTH and PHEBE his Wife for valuable consideracon in hand already received have sold unto HENRY NEWTON his heirs all his right whatsoever he have unto a certaine parcel! of land conteyning One hundred acres of land included within the bounds hereafter mentioned (That is to say) begining upon a Gravely Run at a certain ROAD called by ye name of the CHURCH ROAD in Sittinburne Parish on ye South side ye River in ye County of Rappa. just where JERRED EVERS line crosses over the sd ROAD and so up along ye sd line till you meet with THOMAS DAVIS tree and then up along the uppermost line of sd HUMPHREY BOOTH to the land of RICHARD STOKES and down line of sd STOKES crossing ye said MAIN ROAD to his lower corner tree and from thence alonge the line of the sd lower till you meet with the sd CHURCH ROAD and so long the sd ROAD to the sd Gravelly Hill where you first began To have and to hold the land and every part there unto the sd HENRY NEWTON his heirs In Witness whereof the sd parties have sett their hands and fixed their sealer

Attorney for me to acknowledge before Justices of the Peace sitting in Court for the County of Rappa one Deed of bargaine and Sale bearing date with these presents between sd HUMPHREY BOOTH and myself, PHEBE, of ye one part and HENRY NEWTON of the other pt, and also to relinquish all my right of dower to the sd land giving my sd Attorney full power and confirming whatsoever my said Attorney shall do In Witness I have hereunto set my hand & seale the 11th day of Janry. 1689

      THIS INDENTURE made ye 7th day of November in the year of our Lord 1696 and in the year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord William the 3d1 by the grace of God over England &c., Between HUMPHREY BOOTH & PHEBE his Wife of the County of Essex in Virginia of ye one part & JAMES MERRETT of the County afaoresd. of the other part; Witnesseth that the sd. HUMP: BOOTH & PHEBE hath for a valuable consideracon in hand already reced, have granted unto the sd, JAMES MERROTT his heirs & assignes one parcell of Land con tainein g Thirty acres be it more or less being on the South side of the Rappa: River in the said County being part of a greater Devident of Land, the sd. Thirty acres of Land is bounded as followeth, begining at a Corner tree (by a Spring Branch) which parts this land & the land of WILLIAM BENDREY & from thence extends it selfe by a line of marked trees along ye foot a a hill up to the CHURCH ROAD & from thence down ye said Road till it comes to a line of marked trees wch: parts this land & ye land of WM. BENDREY aforesd. & from thence down ye sd. lone to ye first menconed corner tree, Together with all profitts and appurtenances whatsoever belonging & all ye right that the sd. HUMP: BOOTH his heirs or assignes have; To have & to hold the sd. Thirty acres of Land with all ye premisses unto ye sd. Admex, of all & singular the goods chattles & creditts of HUMPHRY BOOTH deced doe make a true Inventory of all & singular ye goods & creditts which shall come to hands of her and ye same so made do exhibit to ye next Court yt. shal he held for ye abovesd. County of Essex & make oath thereto & further doe make a true & just accot. of her sd Admcon. when thereunto required & deliver unto such p:sons as ye sd Court shall appoint, Then this obligacon to be void or else to remaine in full force &vertue
