Indenture Tripartite made 19 Aug 1755 between WILLIAM ROANE and THOMAS WARING, both of South Farnham Parish, Essex County, Gent., of first part; ROBERT SEAYRES and JOHN RENNOLDS, Executors of the last will and testament of ROBERT BAGGE, late of the said Parish and County, Joyner, dec'd, and JOHN SEAYRES of the said Parish and County, devisee and residuary legatee of Robert Bagge of second part; and JOHN CHAMPE of County of King George, Merchant, of third part .. Whereas Edmund Bagge, late of the County of Spotsylvania, dec'd, Father of Robert Bagge, dec'd, seised in his demesne, fee in all that tract and plantation called "Indian Field" in Orange County, of 2284 acres .. bounded land of Alexander Spotswood, Fsqr.. .. Rocky Run .. Rappidan and Robinson Rivers .. Whereas Robert Rose, Clerk, Executor of the last will and testament of Edmund Bagge, and guardian of Robert Bagge, pursuant to a decree in General Court in Chancery 4 May 1738, in a cause therein depending between John Seayres and Catharine, his wife, Planter, and Robert Rose, Exr. of Edmund Bagge, defendant, by deed of bargain & sale 19 Sept 1738, in consideration £204 towards satisfying the decree, sell unto John Taylor [Tayloe] of the County of Richmond, Esqr., 1284 acres (part of the above mentioned 2284 acres), and whereas Robert Bagge being seised of 1000 acres residue .. By Indenture 28 Aug 1754 between Robert Bagge and William Roane and Thomas Waring Junr. of other part .. for £500 .. sold the 1000 acres. Robert Bagge by his last will and testament 22 Feby 1755 hath given and bequeathed to John Seayres all his Negroes after his debts are paid, and all his land and household goods to be sold to pay his debts, and if that is not sufficient his executors must sell Pegg and George, and appoint Robert Seayres and John Rennolds, his executors, to see his will fulfilled. The 1000 acres to be sold at Publick auction to highest bidder at Fair held in Fredericksburg in month of June last past. Notice given for some time in Virginia Gazette, and John Champe bid and agreed to pay £340 for the 1000 acres . . . . Now this Indenture witnesseth .. for £340 to William Roane and Thos. Waring, paid by John Champe .. sell unto John Champe all that land, 1000 acres, lying between Rocky Run, the Rappidan, Colo. Spotswood's back line, and the line of the 1244 acres sold to John Taylor in County of Orange . . . .
