TO ALL CHRISTIAN PEOPLE to whome these presents shall come Greeting;
Know yee that I JAMES JONES of Essex County do for ye valuable consideracon of Three thousand Four hundred pounds of tobacco and caske in hand paid or secured to be paid, by these presents make over unto JOHN SPENCER of RICHMOND County, One hundred acres of Land lying in ye County of Essex, Begining upon POORE TOBACCO SWAMP and adjoyneing upon JOHN COGELLs Line till it comes to ye extend of WILLIAM CLAPHAMs, And so to take his equall bredth upon the back line & ye sd Swamp till it compleats One hundred acres, To have and to hold the sd. Land with all houses orchards fencings and appurtenances to ye abovesd. JOHN SPENCER his heirs or assignes forever in as large & ample manner as is usually in all conveyances with warranty from all persons by from or under me my heirs or assignes, ye said Land formerly by Deed conveyed to ALEXANDER HENDERSON by WILLIAM CLAPHAM and MARY his Wife, the sd Deed assigned by ye sd. HENDERSON to ye abovesd. JAMES JONES; In Witness whereof have hereunto set my hand & seale ye Tenth day of February one thousand six hundred Ninety and five

THIS INDENTURE made the 8th day of October in ye year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred. Nov Know yee that JAMES JONES of Sittinburn Parish in ye County of Essex, Planter, & KATHERINE my Wife for the sum of Two thousand Five hundred pds. of tobo: & caske in hand paid or secured to be paid have sold unto the sd CHARLES BROWNE his heirs, Exers. Admrs. & assignes forever my part of a Devident of land left to my Wife, KATHERINE, by her Father, ROBT. ARMSTRONG, it being part of Four hundred acres of land Patented for my Father, ARMSTRONG. ye twenty six of 8:ber 1666 then assigned to NICHOLAS CATLETT ye 20th Febry: One Thousand six hundred & seventy two & then the sd NICHO: CATLETT by a Power of Attorney to Mr. EDMD. COOKE bearing date ye 17th of June 1672; acknowledged ye said land unto the aforesd. ARMSTRONG his heirs Exrs. Admrs. & assignes, the sd land being in RAPPA: County binding upon ye North side of PISCATTAWY CREEK as by Patent will more at large appear together with all edifices woods profits appurtenances wt:soever To have & to hold to him the sd CHARLES BROWNE his heirs or assignes forever & ye sd JAMES JONES and KATHERINE my Wife for ourselves our heirs warrant to defend ye sd land from the claime of any manner of persons and that the sd CHARLES BROWNE his heirs & assignes shall forever hereafter hold the sd tract of land paying yearly for Rent due for ye same to our Sovereigne Lord ye King his heirs.& successors as Cheif Lord of the fees.
