      John Montgomery, Will, March 20, 1848; April 4, 1848
      I, John Montgomery of CC, being sick and weak in body, but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding;
      Item: I desire my wife Julianna Montgomery, to sell negroes Gim and Sarah to pay my debts and to keep my entire estate both real and personal together until my youngest child shall come to age.
      Item: I appoint John B. Langley, guardian to his children. Also I leave to the Orphans Court of CC to appoint guardians for James H. Montgomery's children and Francis Montgomery's children.
      Item: after my wife's 1/3, I devise my entire estate both real and personal between my children by my present wife and the children of my son James H. Montgomery and the children of son Francis Montgomery and the children of my daughter Rosetta Langley, the wife of John B. Langley, each of my children to have one childs part.

      I, Elizabeth Montgomery of CC, being in ordinary health of body and of sound mind and memory;
      To son John Montgomery, negroes; Charles, Rachel and her sons John, James and Tom, and Hetty. Also 1 sorrel mare.
      To son Francis Montgomery, negroes; Ben, Kitty, Sally, Chrisey, Henretta, Henry and 1 sorrell mare.
      To daughter Christina Richards, negroes; Carpenter John, Old Jim, Lucy, Elizabeth, Mariah and Mary (one of Kittys twin children) and 1 sorrel mare colt.
      To granddaughter Elizabeth Richards, negroes Frank and Julian, and 1 horse Jack.
      To grandsons, John B. Turner and James S. Turner, negroes; Frank (son of Kitty), Charles Henry, John Edward, and Adeline, and also all the property now in the possession of Jonathan Turner their father which of right belongs to me, and also I devise all that plantation that their father lives on when they arrive to 21 yrs.
      To sons John Montgomery and Francis Montgomery, the following tracts of land by whatever name they may be called beginning at Thomas Queen's line in a branch called Phil's Spring branch to a corner of a rail fence near two tall persimmon trees then though an apple orchard … the crossing in a northerly direction crossing the main road leading from Bryan Town to Bean Town, then with a brush fence until it comes to Alexander Middleton's line around the land where my son Francis formerly lived then around the land where my son John now lives and cultivates to the beginning at Thomas Queens' line.
      To granddaughter Elizabeth Richards, the plantation I now live lying on the north east side of the main road leading from Bryan Town to Bean Town. Also the field on the south west side of said road which I now cultivate called the "Race Ground".
      To daughter Christina Richards all the rest and residue of the land I now possess comprising in part the plantation whereon she now lives.
      To daughter Christina Richards and granddaughter Elizabeth Richards, all my wearing apparel.
