      Indenture made September 28, 1753; Thomas Hodgkin, Sr., gentleman, in consideration of 30 pounds sterling paid by Thomas Hodgkin, Jr., has sold a tract called "Essex Lodge" containing 60 acres which Francis King bought of Charles Drury, late of PGCo, deceased and beginning at a persimmon tree by the northeast side of the Great Branch and the main road and bounded by Mattapony Branch.       Indenture made February 8, 1762; Thomas Hodgkins, joiner in consideration of 60 pounds of good lawful money of Great Britain paid by Judson Coolidge, merchant has sold part of "Essex Lodge" containing 60 acres and lying on Mattapony Branch near the main road. Nov 11, 1771 from Bartholomew Pomeroy of London, Merchant, (surviving partner of William Tower and Joseph Janson, late of London, merchants, deed) by Frank Leeke of Prince Georges County, merchant, attorney in fact for sd Bartholomew Pomroy, to Revd John Eversfield of the same County. Thomas Hodgkin, late of Prince Georges County, decd., by his deed dated about Mar 29, 1754, recorded Prince Georges County, made between sd Hodgkin of the one part and afd William Tower, Bartholomew Pomeroy, and Joseph ; Janson (as assignees of John Philpott and John Hutchinson) of the other part, wherein was sold to sd Tower, Pomroy, and Janson (among other things) a tract of land called Rencher's Adventure, lying in Prince Georges County, containing about 1000 acres, one tract of land called Gardiners Purchase, lying in CC, containing about 100 acres, one tract of land called Mudds Rest, lying in CC, containing about 100 acres, and one tract of land called Pheasant Neck, lying in CC, containing about 50 acres; if, however, sd Hodgkin should pay sd Tower, Pomeroy, and Jansen, the sum of 650 £ shillings and 5 pence with interest thereon, by Apr 10, 1755, then the sd deed to be void. Sd day of payment is elapsed and there now remains due on sd deed 247 £Sd Tower, Janson, and Hodgkin are dead and sd Pomeroy has survived and has sold and disposed of the several tracts afd, to sd Eversfield, for 247 £5 shillings. Now this deed witnesses that sd Pomeroy, for 247 £5 shillings, has sold to sd Eversfield, all of the afd several tracts of land.
