Letter dated 3 Feb 1994 from Charles A. Swearingen, l411 State Ave, Holly Hill, FL, he stated that Jane the wife of Thomas was not Doyne and he thinks it was Jane Hyde.
Charles is a direct descendant of Thomas.
Edith Lynn Mlaker "I feel certain that Jane was not the daughter of Joshua Doyne: I think her maiden name was Hyde. She was listed in one source as Mrs. Doyne, a widow. Also her children were left money in the will of Samuel Hyde, a London merchant, may have been Jane's brother." On 30 Oct 1738, Samuel Hyde of London, by two indentures...convened leases on two tracts, both part of "Bradford's Rest" to John Swearingen and Mary, 2nd son Thomas, and daughters Anne and Kezia. Deeds Book T.pp688-691.(from Dr. Owen Swearingen) Will of Joshua Doyne recorded 16 Aug 1698 mentions second wife, Jane, and daughter Jane. Letter Chris Bailey 5 Jan 1997 "Van's mother is Janea but has never been proven. Extensive research by Louise Johnson of Round Rock, TX and aothers has never been able to prove she was a Doyne or that she was ever married to a Hyde."

EFSM III page 323 Corrections and Additions
Both Volume I and Volume I, Revised, contain information about the Doyne family. No mention is made in either volume about a Jane Doyne marrying Thomas Swearingen. However, descendants of that family are trying to correct an error made in the transcribing of the will of Thomas Swearingen by a Mr. Frank Blanchard in which he stated the will said "..my beloved wife Jane Dane/Done..." A photocopy of the original will called her "...well and dear beloved wife Jane..." There is no mention of Jane Dane or Done in the will.
