      Imprs. an old feather bed, bolster, bedstd & old rugg, & blanketts & Matt, a pircell of feathers in an old rotten case, a pair of old torne blankets & an old bedstead; one case with seaven pottle bottles, one good new chest, three old broken chests, five Cow at 450 lbs. tobo: one heifer two two year old heifers, small iron pott with hoods & pott racks, two iron pestles, an old paile, an old brass kettle, an old Cart & pr. of wheeles & a grind stone, too old tables, four flag bottom chairs old, one iron pott & hookes, one small iron kettle, pr. of iron pott racks, two iron spitts, small frying pan & a space & an old driping pann, a hatchet & some other old iron; a pr. of wedges & a faling ax, an old pr. of small stilliards, a pr. of old pistolls, holsters. carbine & sword, an old gun, an old smooting iron & a pr. of wool cards, a pr. of brass candlesticks, a brass skimer & broken brass morter, a parcell of old pewter cont: 24 lbs., an old warming pann, two old pailes, an old saddle and an old butter tubb & earthen butter pott; seven old splitt trenchers, two horses, a cropp of Tobo: five pair of mans shoes, one Negro man (5000);

      KNOW ALL MEN that we KATHARINE GREENSTEAD, JNO: BILLINGTON & WILLIAM HUDSON of the County of Essex are held and firmly bound unto his Maties. Justices of ye peace for ye sd. County in the sume of Forty thousand pounds of Tobo: & caske, to the which payment we bind ourselves our heirs firmly by these presents; Witness our hand & seales this 10th day of September 1698
      The Condicon of ye above is such that if KATHARINE GREENSTEED, Admrx. of RICHD. GREENSTEED. doe make a true & perfect inventory of all ye goods chattles rights & credits of ye sd. deced, and ye same so made do exhibit to the next Court held for the sd.       THIS INDENTURE made the sixth day of October in the yeare of our Lord One thousand six hundred and Eighty five and in the first yeare of the Reigne of our most Gracious Sovereigne Lord James the second &c. Between RICHARD GRIMSTEAD [Grinstead] of the County of Rappa: in the Collony of Virginia, Planter, of the one part and EDWARD THOMAS of the County and Collony, Mercht., of the other part Witnesseth that the said RICHARD GRIMSTEAD for and in consideration of one Lusty able man Negro to him paid have granted unto the said EDWARD THOMAS his heires all that parcell of land called JACKMANS CODDE containing One hundred and fifty acres more or less (it being part of a dividend of land formerly taken up by Mr. ANTHONY JACKMAN deced) contayning Seven hundred acres being on the South side of Rappa: County back in the Woods bounded South East on the land of JOHN MASSEY, South West on the DRAGON SWAMP, and North West on a Swamp that issueth out of the sd DRAGON SWAMP and devideth this land and the remainder of the said Divident of Seven hundred acres and Northeast upon the aforesd Swamp and the land of JOHN MASSEY including the said quantity of One hundred and fifty acres together with all the woods timbers To have and to hold the said land and every part and parcel! thereof with the comodities and advantages to the same belonging unto the said EDWARD THOMAS his heires the said RICHARD GRIMSTEAD now have full power to grant the premisses and doth for himselfe promise that the sd land is free and cleere from all manner of former gifts grants and other charges In Witness whereof ye said RICHARD GRIMSTEAD hath to these presents sett his hand and seale

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that wee RICHARD GRIMSTEAD and JAMES TUNE of the County of Rappa: and Collony of Virginia, Plantr., do ow and are firmly bound unto EDWARD THOMAS of the same County and Collony, Mercht., in the sum of One hundred pounds Sterling good and lawful! money of England to be paid by good bill of Exchange drawn payable in LONDON which payment to be made we bind ourselves joyntly and severally by these presents. Sealed with our seales this sixth day of October 1685
      The Condicon of this above obligation is that if the above named EDWARD THOMAS his heires may from henceforth quietly hold all that parcell of land containing One hundred and fifty acres comonly called by the name of JACKMANS CODD it being the Easter- most part of a devidend of land of Seven hundred acres formerly taken up and Pattent by Mr. ANTHONY JACKMAN deceased as by the said Pattent bearing date 21st of Septr. 1664 may more fully appear being on the South side of Rappa. County back in the Woods without the trouble of the above bound RICHARD GRIMSTEAD and JAMES TUNE or either of them or any persons whatsoever according to the true meaning of a Deed of Sale bearing date with these presents made and sealed by the above named RICHARD GRIMSTEAD to the above named EDWARD THOMAS of the premises aforesaid that then the above obligation to be of none effect otherwise to remaine in full force As Witness our hands and seales the 6th day of October 1685
