GEORGE CHILTON
( -ca.1666)
George Chilton, brother of Stephen and John Chilton of Lancaster Co., Va., appears to have settled on the
Eastern Shore. There is reference to his will in 1666 but the will itself is not of record. Neither does
George Chilton appear on the tithable lists of Northampton County during the years 1662-66. On 28 Nov. 1666
the Court of Northampton County recorded:
Whereas George Chelton deceased by his Last Will & Testamt made Nicholas Hudson & Tho. Getting
Executors in trust to surrender his Estate unto his Brothers, if they came to demand it within a twelfe month, & Jno. Chelton pretendinge himselfe one of his Brothers & haveinge alsoe from another Brother called Stephen Chelton, (which came over the Bay) power from him before Mr John Andrews & Nicholas Hudson witnesses, to take the whole Estate into his Custody, hee haveing given him freely his pte, & the sd: John Chelton petitioninge to the Court to be invested with the sd: Estate, Capt. Wm. Spencer acknowledginge in open Court to bee securietie to the Court, that hee the sd: John Chelton is Brother to the sd: Geo: Chelton; Itt is therefore ordered, that the sd: Nicholas Hudson & Tho: Gettings shall forthwith deliver upp the sd:

It does not appear that George Chilton married or left descendants.
