THIS INDENTURE made the two and Twentyeth day of February in the Fifth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Second and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty one Between MARK THOMAS of the County of WESTMORELAND Planter of one part and PITMAN SCANDRETT of the County of Essex Merchant of other part Witnesseth that for the sum of Eleven pounds Currant mony of Virga to the sd MARK THOMAS in hand paid by the sd PITMAN SCANDRITT he the sd MARK THOMAS hath sold unto the sd PITMAN SCANDRETT his heirs and assigns one full undivided fourth part of all that piece of land containing Two hundred acres being in the Parish of Southfarnham in the County of Essex which said Fourth part of the sd Two hundred acres of land descended unto ANN the late Wife of the sd MARK THOMAS now deceased as one of the Daughters and Coheirs of WILLIAM AYRES late of the sd County of Essex deceased and all the houses Orchards woods and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging To Have and To Hold the sd fourth part of the sd Two hundred acres of land unto said PITMAN SCANDRETT during the time of the natural life of him the said MARK THOMAS paying unto the sd MARK THOMAS the yearly rent of one ear of Indian Corn upon the twenty fifth day of December in every year during the sd term if the same be lawfully demanded, In Witness whereof the sd Parties have set their hands and seals

THIS INDENTURE made the twenty ninth day of September in the Sixteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Second and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty two Between HUMPHREY THOMAS of County of GLOCESTER Planter and ANN his Wife of one part and ISAAC SCANDRETT of Southfarnham in County of Essex of other part Witnesseth that the said HUMPHREY THOMAS and ANN his Wife for the sum of Twenty five pounds Current mony of Virginia have granted unto said ISAAC SCANDRETT (in his actual possession and Seizin now being) and to his heirs and assigns forever all that the fourth part undivided of him HUMPHREY THOMAS in all that parcel of land containing by Estimation two hundred acres in the Parish of Southfarnham abovesaid all which said hereby granted and released premises descended to the said HUMPHREY THOMAS as heir at Law to his Mother ANN THOMAS deceased the Wife of MARK THOMAS deceased which said ANN THOMAS was one of the Daughters and Coheirs of WILLIAM AYRES late of the County of Essex deceased who purchased the same to him and his heirs by Indenture bearing date the tenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and three made between BENJAMIN GOODRICH of JAMES CITY COUNTY of the Colony of Virginia Gent, Son and Heir apparent of BENJAMIN GOODRICH Gent late of said County deceased of one part and said WILLIAM AYRES of County of Essex Planter as by same Indenture Recorded among the Records of the County Court of Essex To Have and To hold the said fourth part of the said tract of land unto said ISAAC SCANDRETT his heirs and assigns. In Witness whereof the parties have set their hands and seals

At a Court held for Essex County at Tappa, on the 21st day of December 1742 HUMPHREY THOMAS and ANN his Wife (the said ANN being first privately Examined by WILLIAM DAINGERFIELD Gent) acknowledged this their Release Indented to ISAAC SCANDRETT Gent to be their act and deed and the said HUMPHREY THOMAS acknowledged the Receipt thereon Indorsed which was admitted to record
