Know all men by these presents that I John Rogers of
Northumberland in the Colony of Virginia Gent. for diverse
good causes and consideration as me here unto moving and
especially for the natural love and affection that I have unto
my children do freely and absolutely give unto my daughter
Katherine Rogers one cow calf about six' months old.

To Elizabeth Rogers one cow calf aged five months old colored brown marked a Floure-de-Lyse upon the left ear and under holed and over
holed on the right.
To John Rogers one cow calf about three months old colored black marked a Floure-de-Lyse upon the right ear and over holed and under holed on the left. To have and to hold the said calves with their future female increase to them the said Katherine, Elizabeth and John Rogers remain truly forever in witness where of I have here

Whereas THOMAS BARNES obteyned Judgment against Mr. JOHN ROGERS, JUNIOR, for one thousand pounds of tobacco and caske and whereas this Court THOMAS BARNES summoned JOANE, the Relict and Administratrix of the said JOHN to shew reason why Execution should not issue out on that Order on a nihil licit, it is ordered that the Order be confirmed and that JOANE, Administratrix as aforesaid, pay the said sume to THOMAS BARNES out of the Decedent's Estate als Execution

Whereas a complaynt hath been made to this Court that JOANE ROGERS, the Relict of JOHN ROGERS, deceased, is supinely negligent both in the keeping of the said Children of her said Husband as preservation of their Estate and the Children always being in want of a due Education being neither bred like the Children of such a Father nor of a Christian and their Estate almost ruined. It is ordered that the Sheriff summon the said JOANE to the next Court to give security of the Court for the better keeping and educating of the said Children and security of the Estate or else that Mr. WILLIAM ROGERS take the Children and Estate into his hands from whome it is hoped the Children will find much better usage and their Estate more preservaton

Northumberland County Court December 2, 1686
Whereas Mr. WILLIAM ROGERS Complained to this Court that he became Security with JEAN (the widow of JOHN) ROGERS late of this County deceased, for her due Administration on the Estate of her said deceased husband and the said JEAN being also deceased prayed that he might have the said Estate into his hands, and also that some indifferent Persons of the neighborhood might be appointed to Appraise the same. It is ordered that between this and the next Court HENRY DAWSON, ROBERT LYNDSAY, WILLIAM PARKER, and JOHN CRALLE meet, take an Inventory and appraisement of the said JEAN's Estate (being first sworn by the nearest Justice) and Exhibit the same into the next Court. That the said WILLIAM ROGERS take the said Estate into his Custody for his own security being accountable for the same when (by the Court) thereunto required, And that (for the better improve of the Children's Education) Mr. RICHARD ROGERS have the said oldest named JOHN and Mr. KEEN the youngest named WILLIAM ROGERS in their tutelage during their minority.
