      Page 246. Jno. Bateman, aged 28 yeares or thereabouts, sayth that when he was a servantt with Rob: Jefferys hee had occasion to goe out into the woods to looke for sows that had piggs to bring them home. Rob: Powell living there in
      the kitchon profferrd himselfe to goe along with mee to helpe mee bring them home. Rob. Powell followed the sows and piggs upp to the house and other hoggs that was with them of my master Jefferys, and Nicho. Jones' sow did use with them and was at that time [with] them and when I came upp to the fence side I see Robt. Powell upon Nicho. Jones sow pulling off his kniffe out of the sow's throte and the dog by him. Rob. Hichcocke came there for a passage over the creeke and mett Rob. Powell with his hands all bloody, said Name sake, what have you been killing a hogg. Noe, said Powell, I have beene markeing a hogg. I went with the old man to sett him over the creeke.
