    • === Research notes from Nicole Polk

PS dna wise there are 3 separate branches of McPherson's (at least) in Charles during Alexander's time. They are William McPherson Jacobite (also father to a Daniel). Alexander McPherson Sr. to colonies before 1706 (which places him before the 1715 Jacobite uprising) and "Scotch Daniel" I can't remember where I saw him listed that way in records but that is how I keep track of him. Alexander Sr.'s line (my line) mostly leaves by or before the Rev. to Bedford, VA and then into Craig, VA (Simmonsville Area) and into TN by early 1800 (Washington, TN). William the Jacobite's line stays in Charles and I don't know about "Scotch" Daniel's line. Alexander's line can be tracked and separated by land. George's Rest, The Bridges and Pomfrett. Alexander's line is related somehow to the Gordon's of Banff, Scotland as John (his son) calls Cuthbert Gordon "cousin". I know Cuthbert's mother was a McPherson
=== Research notes from Jane Macgillivray

Description: I'm looking at the dna matches for the descendants of 1) James McPherson, factor for Cawdor (1746-1825) son of Niel McPherson and Jean McAndrew in Cawdor and Ardersier 2) his relative John Lachlan Macgillivray of Dunmaglass c) a likely relative Jean McUrrich alias McPherson of Cawdor who married a Macarthur who was also related to Dunmaglass. The descendants of these three people (yes, there is one of Dunmaglass) all dna-match with descendants of Alexander born at Dalraddy, namely Daniel who died in 1740 Port Tobacco, (no mention in book of Invereshie), also with descendants of the Daniel McPherson who married Ruth Shires and was said to be of Essick, although not proven
