Simon Wilmer, Will, March 6, 1838; July 14, 1840
I, Simon Wilmer Rector of Christ Church and Chapel of St. John's Parish, Prince George's and Charles Counties, being usual health, and of sound and disposing mind and memory;
As he greater part of the estate was my wife's' before our marriage, I bequeath to her the residue of my property real personal and mixed subject to the following reservation, vizt;
1st: as it respects the colored people it is my desire that those belonging to me in Virginia, the children of sylva, shall server until 25 yrs. old, the mother set free immediately and with respect to those formerly belonging to my wife, Harry James and Caroline on account of costs and expenses should serve 10 years.
2nd: from the sale of the land, seven tracts containing 2,400 acres in Pennsylvania deeded jointly to Morgan Jones of Wilmington Delaware and myself, it is my will that on account of money paid to me by my brother William deceased, it is my will that his widow Ann B. Wilmer should be entitled to ½.
3rd: It is my desire that my three sons John Richard Frisby Wilmer, John R.B Wilmer and William L.S. Wilmer, shall have my books and papers, as also my wearing apparel and shaving apparatus, and my daughter Mary Ann Frisby Wilmer shall have my silver coffee pot and stand.
4th. Should my wife die without a will and have children, yet unborn, then they to have a part of my estate. The balance to be divided between the American Bible Society, the American Sunday School Union Society, the American Tract Society, the Maryland Colonization Society and the American Temperance Society.
