      To all Christian People to whom this present writing shall com I Francis Hale of Rappa county in the Collony of Virginia, Planter, sendeth Greeting in our Lord God this tenth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand six hundred eighty four and in the thirtyeth & sixth years of the Reigne of our Sovereigne King Charles the Second. Now know ye that I the said Francis HALE for the sum of Two thousand fivee hundred pounds of Tobacco & cask in hand paid by Stephen Fewell of the aforesaid County & Colony. Planter have granted unto him the Said Stephen Fewell his heires forever one tract of land conteying one hundred acres being in the aforesaid County of Rappa; on the North side of the River being part of a dividend contenying Thirteen hundred acres bought of Capt wm Haybard by Francis Hale after Pattented in the said Hales own name; The said tract butted and bounded as followeth beginning at Poplar Swamp at Pighickory in the line of JOHN ROWLEY along the sd Rouleys line Eastward to a white Oake standing by a great Poplar, from thence to an Ash that stands upon the side of a deep gully being a corner tree of Mr Hugh Williams line & so long the said Williams line south to a branch that leased West to the Poplar Swamp Runn and up the said Runn Northerly to the first mentioned Pighickory together with all houses gardens woods profits whatsoever to have and to hold the said land to him the said Stephen Feuell his heirs forever. And I the said Francis Hale do covenant to warrant & forever defend the said land from the claimes of any manner of persons whatsoever, he the said Stephen Fewell his heirs pay the yearly fee for the same due and payable to our Soverign Lord the King as Chief Lord of the Fee. FITZHERBERT lying & being in ye County aforesaid & upon ye Northwest side of MORATICO CREEK, ye said Parcell of land being pte. of ye aforesaid Devident & is bounded as followeth, beginning at ye mouth of a Creek runing out of MORATICO CREEK commonly known by ye name of ye OLD MANS CREEK & from thence along ye said MORATICO CREEK to ye extent of ye bounds of that line exprest in ye aforesaid Pattent & is bounded by ye land wch was THOMAS STEVENS & from thence up into ye Woods bounding upon ye said line of THOMAS STEVENS until! it meet wth ye branch of ye said OLD MANS CREEK & from thence as ye said Creeke runs into ye first Station To have & to hold ye said land wth all ye priviledges belonging unto him ye said JOHN PHILLIPS his heires or assignes forever, wth all ye priviledges belonging.       Old Rappahannock County Orders 1689-1692

      Court Order Book 1683-1685

      4 Dec 1684 page 61 Commission of Administration is granted to Eliza Anderson on the Estate of her Deceased Husband, James Anderson, who dyed intestate, she giving security to this court to be accomptable for the same when required Elizabeth Anderson, John Smith and JNO WILLIAMS enter themselves in an assumpsitt of ten thousand pounds of toba; and caske to this Court to be accountable for the estate of James Anderson deceased and deliver the same to this Worship. Court to whom it shall properly belong when legally required.
      Elizabeth Anderson enters herselfe in an Assumpsitt of Twenty thousand pounds of tob. And caske to Jno Smith and JOHN WILLIAMS for the become bound with her the said Elizabeth Anderson to be accomptable for the Estate of James Anderson deceased.
      Ordered that the Estate of James Anderson deced be Inventoried and apprized on the 19th instant by Mr George Plea; John Smith; Richard Goode and Abraham Stapp and Capt Saml Blomfield is hereby required to meet at the same with the Appraizers to administer oath to them for their just proceedings in the Appraizment and also to administer an oath to Eliza the Relict & Administratrix the said Anderson to make a true discovery of the said Estate to the Appraizers and they to make return there of to the next court holden on the South side of the River.
