THIS INDENTURE made the XXVIlth &XXVIIIth day of October in the year of our Lord 1740 Between WILLIAM FICKLIN of the County of KING GEORGE Planter & SARAH his Wife of one part and WILLIAM BAYLIS of the Parish of Hamilton in the County of Prince William Planter of other part Witnesseth that said WILLIAM FICKLIN & SARAH his Wife for the sum of Twenty five pounds Current money of Virginia do sell unto the said WILLIAM BAYLIS (in his actual possession now being by virtue of a Bargain & Sale made for one year and by force of the Statute for Transferring uses into possession ) and to his heirs & assigns forever all that parcel of land containing two hundred & fifty acres being on the head Branches of HOOES CREEK in the Parish of Hamilton in the County of Prince William afsd and bounded Beginning at a marked white Oak standing in a small Branch by or in the line of the land of JOHN WALLACE extending thence up the said small Branch along the line of JOHN SIMSON So. E, to a black Oak Saplin then N E. cross the Main Run of the said HOOES CREEK to a small Hickory standing on the main branch, thence cross the said main branch N. W. to a red Oak then So. W. to a white Oak then So. E. to the beginning, & contains by estimation two hundred & fifty acres of land which said land was granted by the PROPRIETOR of the NORTHERN NECK of Virginia unto DENIS CORNWELL by Deed bearing date the fifth day of November in the year MDCCXI and by the sd CORNWELL was sold to WILLIAM HALL by Deed bearing date the XIIIth day of December MDCCXIV, and by said HALL conveyed to the afsd WILLIAM FICKLIN by Deeds of Lease and Release bearing date the twelfth day of March MDCCXXI as by the Records of STAFFORD COUNTY Court may more fully appear. SARAH the Wife of WILLIAM FICKLIN, she being first privately Examined, ackowledged this Lease/Release to be her act and deed which was ordered to be Recorded
KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I WILLIAM FICKLIN am held and firmly bound unto WILLIAM BAYLIS in the sum of one hundred pounds Currt, money of Virginia this VIIIth day of October 1740

We SARAH FICKLING Widow & relict of WILLIAM FICKLING late of county King George deceased, IGNATIUS WEST & PATIENCE, his wife, STEPHEN BOWEN & SARAH his wife, ROBERT ROACH & ELIZABETH his wife, WILLIAM FICKLING, THOMAS FICKLING & ANTHONY FICKLING of county King George send greeting. Know ye that we (those named) in consideration of the natural love and affection which we bear unto our beloved Brother BENJAMIN FICKLING of said county youngest child of William Fickling deceased as well as for his advancement in the world have each of us given (him) .. our respective parts shares or rights which any of us hath in any parcel of goods and chattels which were of the said William Fickling deceased at the time of his decease .. 2nd November 1756.
