    • CAPT. JOHN METCALFE, of "Longbranch," Fauquier Co., Va, and later of Kentucky, b. 1724; d. 1799. He raised a company of troops in Fauquier Co., of which he was made Captain, and served with distinction in the Revolutionary War. In 1784 he removed to Kentucky, and located near Russell's Cave, Fayette Co. He died in Nicholas Co., Ky. He m. (first) Sabina Farrar, of Maryland; (second) Mary O'Brine, of Virginia; (third) Sarah (Dent) Chinn, wid. of Eli Chinn, of Fauquier Co., Va., and dau. of Robert Dent, of Prince George Co.,Md.       15 Apr 1799: John Metcalfe's will. of Mason County, Kentucky, "weak in body, perfect in mind and memory."
      Left to his wife Rhody 450 acres to have as long as she lived single, after that to go to his children Sarah, Lucy, Rhody, and youngest son Bealla.
      All his stock furniture and plantation utensils to go in the same manner.
      To son Thomas Metcalfe he gave 300 acres of land, to begin at Burgess Mason's clearing and run south to the east fork of Cedar Creek, down the creek to Kenton's line.
