      Jan 28, 1787. I, John Gray of CC, planter, am sick & weak in body but of sound & perfect memory. Firstly, I want my just debts paid.
      To my son Joseph Gray - all my land and tenements.
      To my daughter Benedictor Franklin - a Negro woman named Lett.
      To my daughter Ann Butler Garrot - a Negro woman named Haney.
      To my wife Hanner Gray - a Negro woman named Sarey.
      To my children, to wit, Joseph Gray, Benedictor Franklin, Ann Butler Garrot - the rest of my estate, to be equally divided amongst them.

      At the request of Elias Harding the following Deed was recorded this 6th day of June 1785. to wit, This Indenture made this eighteenth day of April In the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and eighty five Between Barton Garrott of Frederick County and State of Maryland Planter of the one part and Elias Harding of Montgomery County and State aforesaid Planter of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Barton Garrott for and in Consideration of the Sum of two Hundred and Sixteen pounds Specie Current money of the State aforesaid to him [?] paid . . . the following parcel of land and premises lying in Montgomery County aforesaid being part of a Tract of land Called forrest, and Beginning at the end of three Hundred Sixty and four perches on the twentfifth line of the aforesaid Tract of land called Forrest, and running thence with the said land north twenty four degrees, West one Hundred and fifty five perches, then north eighty two degrees West eighty perches then South eleven degrees East two Hundred and twenty five perches then with a straight line to the first Beginning containing and now laid out for Ninety Six Acres of Land more or less Together with all the Dwelling houses out houses Orchards . . . In Witness whereof the said Barton Garrett Hath hereunto Set his Hand and Seal the day and year first above written
