      "Skordas shows a George Athley was transported to Maryland ca 1662. On 26 Mar 1663 Thomas Dent, Gent., entered his rights for land due for transporting George Athley. [Apparently George served the customary seven-year term as bond servant to Judge Thomas Dent until 1668.] Registered his cattle mark in 1672 and witnessed a deed on 8 Feb 1673.

      "The Hienton Map of Charles Co. plantations which were in Prince George's Co. after formation of the latter shows George Athee patented 'Athee's Hopewell' and 'Hutton's Lockerice' on 4 Aug 1674 and 'Wakefield' on 14 Jun 1675.

      "12 Apr 1676 George Athy, planter, sold 100 acres called 'Athey's Hopewell' for 3,200 pounds of tobacco. On 9 Jan 1676 he sold a parcel called 'Wakefield' for 4, 000 pounds of tobacco and 100 acres 'Hutton Lockerice' for 3,000 pounds of tobacco.

      "25 May 1683 George Athee and Anne his wife sold 80 acres 'Hopewell.' 10 Dec 1686 he sold 20 acres called 'Southrisk' for 1,600 pounds tobacco.

      "On 11 Mar 1689 George Athey and Sarah his wife sold 'Yorkshire' of 91 acres . On 3 Dec 1694 he sold a parcel called 'Little Hall' of 79 acres to build a Protestant Church and better maintain a Protestant minister.

      "George and Sarah sold 220 acres 'St. John's' on 26 Jun 1697.

      "Gave age as 60 in 1702 deposition in St. Mary's County."

      Tobacco planter and carpenter.

      Selected in 1696 to be Captain of Foot for the western half of Prince George's County Militia.

      Luke Gardner qualified as administrator of his estate on 7 March 1709/10.
