      IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I JOSHUA BOUGHTON SENR. of South ffarnham Parish in Essex County being sick & weak but of perfect memory thanks be to God for it have thought fits to make this my last Will in manner and form following revoaking and makeing void all other wills by me heretofore made and first & principally I recommend my soul into the hands of my Creator hopeing for Salvation and as to my temporall estate after the due paying of my just debts legacies & ffuneral expellees I dispose thereof as followeth Imprs.
      I give to my Son JOSHUA BOUGHTON that part of land which I purchased of the REVD. EMANUEL JONES being one half of the land which I am now possessed with to him and his issue lawfully begotten and in case he should dye without any such lawfull issue then my will is that the above sd land shall go to my Son THOMAS BOUGHTON to him and his issue lawfully begotten.
      Item I give to my son JOHN BOUGHTON the other part of my land which I now live on to him and his
      issue lawfully begotten and in case he should die without any such lawfull issue then my will is that the sd land shall go to my Son WILLIAM BOUGHTON to him and his issue lawfully begotten. Item I give to my son Joshua Boughton my negroes Sawny & Jack.
      Item I give to my son John Boughton my other negroes Sampson, Phillis Cate & in case my two sons Joshua Boughton and John Boughton whom I have given my negroes to should die without lawfull issue then my will is that my Son Thomas Boughton shall have the negroes which I have given to my son Joshua Boughton and William Boughton shall have the negroes which I have given to my son John Boughton.
      Item I give to my son William Boughton twenty five pounds currt, money when he shall come
      to the age of twenty one years.
      Item I give to my four daughters MARY, ANNE, ELIZABETH& HANNAH to each of them four cows & calves Item my Will is that all my household stuff be equally divided among six of my children mainly Joshua Boughton, John Boughton, Mary Boughton & Ann Boughton, Elizabeth Boughton & Hannah Boughton.
      Item I give to my Daughter Mary Boughton my bay rideing horse.
      Item my will is that all the rest of my stock both cattle hoggs horses & mares & sheep be equally divided between my two sons Joshua Boughton & John Boughton.
      And Lastly I constitute &
      appoint my two sons Joshua Boughton & John Boughton to be whole & sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament for the true performance thereof. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this nineteenth day of March one thousand seven hundred and twenty & six

      At a Court held for Essex County at Tapp& the xxith day of September MDCCXXXI This last Will and Testament of Joshua Boughton decd was presented in Court by the Exrs therein named who made oath thereto and being further proved by the oaths of John Smith & William Johnson two of the witnesses thereto was admitted to record
