      I, Philip Cooksey of CC being weak of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory
      To wife, all my estate during her life. After her decease, to be equally divided among my five children, Isaac, Leven, Hester, Sarah and Margaret.

      Wit - G. Adams, John Adams, John Adams Jr.
      Probated on March 25, 1793 by Isaac Cooksey together with witnesses John Adams Sr., John Adams Jr, and George Adams who made oath that they saw the testator sign and seal this will.

      Mar. 8, 1791 - The Charles Co., Md. will of Philip Cooksey, probated Mar. 25, 1793, [Will April 1793 Term CC Court (probate 25 Mar 1793)]
      leaves:
      --to wife (not named), for and during her natural life, all my estate, and after her decease, to be equally divided among my 5 children now residing with me, namely, Isaac, Leven,
      Hester, Sarah and Margaret.
      Executor: son Isaac.
      Witnesses: G. Adams, John Adams, Sr., John Adams, Jr.

      Comment: The will shows that Philip had other children who were no longer living with him. The 1783 and 1790 records above appear to show 7 and 6 children respectively still in the household.
      There is no inventory for Philip in Charles Co. to 1808 and no administration account for him there to 1806.

      Apr. 1795 - The 2nd and final Charles Co., Md. administration account of Thomas Darnall, Sr., shows that Darnall's estate had made a payment of 14/1/3 to Philip Cooksey.

      Comment: Thomas Darnall, Sr.'s will was probated in June 1790, and the payment would have been made to Cooksey after Darnall's 1st administration account which was dated Aug. 1792.

      Oct. 1741 - Charles Co., Md. Court. Jonathan Davies, Jr. VS. Thomas Thomas and William Carter. garnishees of Abraham Burkhead. Burkhead owed a debt to Davies but had left the jurisdiction so Davies obtained a writ of attachment against any property of Burkhead's that could be found in the county.
      In Oct. 1741, the Sheriff served process on 7 named persons (including Thomas and Carter) requiring them to appear in Court to show cause why any of Burkhead's property in their possession should not be condemned for Davies' use. The Sheriff served process on the 7 in the presence of James
      Keech and Philip Cooksey, two good and lawful men of his bailywick.

      1, Thomas Cooksey of CC, planter, for 2000 lbs tobacco, I have sold to Philip Cooksey of CC, 1 gray horse, 1 feather bed and furniture, and 1 iron pot. Signed Dec 12, 1748 - Thomas (T his mark) Cooksey. wit - Thos Oden, John Perryman

      Dec 12, 1748. Received of Wm Carter and Thomas Hays, who were the securities for my father's estate, full satisfaction for my part of the said estate. Wit - Philip Cooksey, William (V his mark) Hays, John Perryman.
