Burford Cottrell, Will & Codicil, April 5, 1812; July 31, 1812
I, Burford Cottrell of William & Mary Parish CC, Altho at present much oppressed by bodily illness yet bless god having the full possession of a disposing mind, memory and understanding;
To son Benjamin Cottrell, the land on which I now live called "Walnut Hills" 200 acres, on the condition that my daughter Eleanor Warren Cottrell, shall during her celibrate and single life, enjoy the lands and houses and be entitled to ½ the rents and profits.
To son Benjamin Cottrell, negroes, Nat, Rose, Suck, Ned and James.
To daughter Eleanor Warren Cottrell, Mary, Basil Proctor, Celia, Henny, Cat, Mary, Harriet, and Bill.
Executor: son Benjamin Cottrell and daughter Eleanor Warren Cottrell

Codicil: In case my son Benjamin Cottrell and daughter Eleanor Warren Cottrell shall both consent to sell tract "Walnut Hills" during her single life, then 1/3 of the monies from the sell shall belong to her and the remaining 2/3 to my son.
