THIS INDENTURE Withesseth that EZROM COGHILL, Son of JAMES COGHILL, late of the County of Essex and Southfarnham Parish deced, of his own free and voluntary will, with the consent of his Mother, ELIZABETH COGHILL, hath put himself Apprentice to DANIEL STODGHILL of the same County and Parish, Taylor, the science or trade that he now useth to be taught and with after the manner of an Apprentice to serve and dwell from the day of the date hereof untill he shall attain to the age of twenty one years, he being now aged about ten years, by all which term of years the said Apprentice the said DANIEL STODGHILL well and truly shall serve, And DANIEL STODGHILL to his said Apprentice the science or trade of a Taylor that he now useth shall teach and inform or cause to be taught and informed and shall teach and instruct him to read and write and also shall find his Apprentice apperell meat drink and lodging and all other things necessary for an Apprentice during the term aforesaid, In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have set their hands & seals this Twenty eighth day of January in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty five The within EZROM COGHILL aged Ten years the 28th day of December 1745

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I ELIZABETH COGHILL of Essex County Widow, in consideration of the natural & motherly affection that I have and bear to my five Children, ZACHARY COGHILL, SUSANNAH COGHILL, EZROM COGHILL, PRISCILLA COGHILL and GIDEON COGHILL do give and make over to my five Children after my decease three Negroes and their increase, Vizt., Bess, Mill and lzubell: To have and to hold the said Negroes and all their increase to my five Children reserving to myself the use and liberty of working the said Negroes during my natural life and do and shall varrent the same to my said Children against the claims of all persons, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of June in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & forty seven

At a Court held for Essex County at Tappahannock on the 16th day of June Anno Dom 1747 THOMAS BARKER and BENJAMIN BOUGHAN made Oath that they did see ELIZABETH COGHILL sign seal and acknowledge this Deed of Gift to ZACHARY COGHILL, SUSANNAH COGHILL, EZROM COGHILL. PRISCILLA COGHILL and GIDEON COGHILL to be her act and deed which was admitted to Record and is truly recorded
