Richmond County, VA, Will Book 7, 1767-1787, page 99 – Will of Thomas Thornton of Lunenburg Parish, dated 31 October 1771 and probated 2 December 1771. I Thomas Thornton of the County of Richmond and Parish of Lunenburg being very sick and weak of body but of sound mind and memory thanks to the Almighty God do make this my Last Will & Testament... Item – My will and desire is that my loving wife Rebecca Sisson have the use of all and singular of my Estate during her widowhood. If she should marry that then the said Estate so be equally divided amongst my said wife Rebecca Sisson Thornton and my two children Frances Sisson Thornton and Elizabeth Thornton hereby revoking all other wills by me heresofore made and I do hereby appoint my loving wife REbeccah Sisson Thornton and my friend Benjamin Bramham my whole and sole executors of this my last Will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written. Signed Thomas Thorton. Witnesses Daniel Lawson, Ann Thornton and Rebeccah (her mark) Lawson. Wife's child Frances Sisson Thornton, which she had by her former husband to be brought up and given schooling as my own; my two children, Elizabeth and Lucy. Executors Wife and Daniel Lawson. Wits: Vincent Garland, George Howe Jr. and Mary Anne Hammond.
Richmond County, VA, Will Book 8, 1787-1794, page 36 - Will of Thomas Dobyns of North Farnham Parish, 8 February 1788, 1 December 1788(?), son Lawson land and plantation in the fork of Totuskey; daughters Nancy Oldham, Milly and Barbary; ex: friends Col. William Peachey, Thaddeus Williams and William Oldham; wits; Henry Dobyns, Frances Thornton, George Davis, Daniel Dobyns. (Note: Thomas Dobyns was the third husband of Rebecca Sisson Lawson who had married (1) Thomas Thornton in 1769 and (2) Thomas Hammond. Thomas Dobyns married her in 1781, see Marriages of Richmond County, Virginia 1668-1853 by George H. S. King, page 55. Thomas Dobyns was previously married to Rachel (?); they had the following children; Newman, born 1759, Thomas, born 1761, Barbara, born 1767, William Henry, born 1776; Thomas and Rebecca had at least one child, Lawson, born 1782.)
