Indenture dated June 4, 1796 between Walter Smith and John Forbes, Witnesseth that Walter Smith in consideration of 5 shillings have sold a tract or parcel of land unto John Forbes as follows: bounded at an oak stump standing on the road leading to Benedict Town and at the head of a small marsh which makes up to said road from the head of Kings Creek running thence with the main road to Benedict to the north east corner of "Lot No. 10", thence to the north west corner, thence with the western boundary of Benedict Town to the old warehouse Lot, with the line of John Forbes lot to the Patuxent River to the mouth of Kings Creek and laid off for 77-1/2 acres.
Provided Walter Smith pay unto John Forbes 438 pounds, 9 shillings and 4 pence current money with legal interest from the date hereof to be paid in the following manner to wit: 175.9.8 pounds on the 1st day of September 1797; 175.9.8 pounds on the 1st day of September 1798 and 87.10.0 pounds on the 1st day of September 1799. I William Wheatly of CC appoint Elias Wheatly of St. Mary's County, Maryland my lawful attorney to sell tracts of land called "Addition" containing 138 acres, "Addition Enlarged" containing 222 acres and "Wheatly's Addition" containing 136 acres, and lot number 25 containing 33 acres 2 rods and 25 perches. And also all my estate, right, title, claim and demand whatsoever of in and unto the said premises and every part and parcel thereof unto Mary Morton her heirs and assigns forever, and also for me and in my name place and stead and my proper act and deed to execute seal and deliver such conveyance unto said Mary Morton.

Indenture made June 20, 1797; William Wheatly of the state of Kentucky planter (by Elias Wheatly, Power of Attorney {see page 181 of this book}) in consideration of 800 pounds current money paid by Mary Morton of Prince George's County, Maryland sells several tracts of land beginning at a fork of the northern and western branch of Indian Creek as follows; "Addition Enlarged" containing 222 acres, "Wheatly's Addition" containing 136 acres, and Lot No. 25 part of Calverton Manor containing 33 acres 2 rods and 25 perches. Mentions Benjamin Ogden's lot number 24 & 26, and Benjamin Ogden's Mill land in description.

This indenture of four parts made November 9, 1803 between John Moran Sr. of the first part, Elizabeth Cusick {widow of Ignatius Cusick} of the second part, George Morton of the third part and Charles Smith of the fourth part. Whereas John Moran Sr. is seized and possessed in fee simple of sundry tracts of land in CC to wit; "Dearbought", part of "Mahew" and part of "Calverton Manor" called as by the deed of conveyance and the last will and testament of John Moran deceased. And whereas John Moran Sr. is also possessed of sundry negroes to wit; Fortune, Benjamin, Luke, Abraham, Benjamin, Priss, Byner, Nell, Teary, George, Clare, Dyky, Henry, Dyner, Frank, Allen, Elijah, Harret, Cyley and also of a large stock of horses, cattle, sheep and hogs and also a considerable quantity of household and kitchen furniture. And whereas Elizabeth Cusick is possessed of sundry negroes to wit; Henney, Mary, Henney, Abraham, Jean, Jarret and Henry, and also a stock of cattle and hogs ad sundry articles of household and kitchen furniture. And whereas a marriage is intended to be shortly and solemnized between John Moran Sr. and Elizabeth Cusick, that if the said marriage shall take effect then, notwithstanding, he John Moran Sr., shall not nor will intermeddle or have any right title or interest either in law or equity to any part of the negroes or the goods chattles or effects of the said Elizabeth Cusick but the same shall be and remain for the sole and separate use and benefit of her. And it is futher agreed that if the said marriage shall take effect then, notwithstanding, he John Moran Sr., shall not nor will intermeddle or have any right title or interest either in law or equity to any part of the negroes or the goods chattles or effects of the said Elizabeth Cusick but the same shall be and remain for the sole and separate use and benefit of her. And if the said marriage shall take effect then, notwithstanding, she Elizabeth Cusick shall not nor will intermeddle or have any right title interest property or estate either in law or equity to any of the lands tenements now the estate of John Moran Sr. Now this indenture Witnesseth that for making the said agreement good valid and effectual in law and for keeping and preserving the negroes and other property of her Elizabeth Cusick and so the same shall not be in the power or disposal of the said John Moran Sr., Elizabeth Cusick and John Moran Sr. doth covenant and agree to and with the above conditions. {lengthy passage but in essence and in the event of the death of either party, Charles Smith will oversee her estate and George Morton will oversee his estate}. Indenture made November 20, 1815; between Clement Dorsey of the one part and Samuel Chapman of the other part. Whereas Samuel Chapman at the request of Clement Dorsey has entered into a bond to Charles Somerset Smith as is security for the payment of the bond mentioned and Clement Dorsey has determined that Chapman shall not suffer for his friendly act and has determined to convey the property hereinafter mentioned to have him harmless. Now this indenture witness that Clement Dorsey to carry into execution the said intention and for the sum of $100 has sold in fee simple depending on the life estate of the wife of Clement Dorsey in all that tract of land willed by the late Henry Arundel Smith to the wife of Clement Dorsey together with Dorsey's interest in the same and also the following Negroes, Julius, Perry, Moses, Horace, Will the younger, Lewis the elder, Moses the younger, Walter (Green), John, Jack (Rice), Sewel, Hanson, George, Frank, Andrew, George and Frank. In trust to sell any part thereof for any loss he may sustain by having executed the bond aforesaid and upon satisfaction of the debt by Dorsey to re-convey the said lands and Negroes to Clement Dorsey.
