      THE NAME OF GOD, Amen, this 12th day of June 1749, I JAMES HARDWICH of Parish of Coply in County of Westmorland, Plantr., being of perfect health at this present time, thanks be to God for the same, but knowing ye certainty of death & ye uncertainty of the time thereof, do make constitue & appoint this to be my Last Will & Testamt., And as touching such worldly Estate as itt bath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give & bequeath in manner and form as followeth,
      Imprs. I give and bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it with a certain hope of the pardon of all my sins through the alone merit of my Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ, and my body to be decently buried at ye discretion of my Exrx. hereinafter mentioned,
      Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son, THOS: HARDWICH, all ye Land ye Plantation I now live upon to him and his heirs maile of his body to enjoy and process for ever, and for want of such heir to my Son, JAS. HARDWICH, and his heirs for ever;
      Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son, JOHN HARDWICH, one Shilling Sterling
      Item. I give to my Son, THOMAS HARDWICH, two Negroes called Samson and Jack to he and his heirs for ever;
      Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law, ELIAS DAVIS, one Shilling Sterling;
      Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter, ELIZA: NASH, one Shilling Sterling;
      Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter, SARAH SUMMERS, one Shilling Sterling;
      Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter, CYDNAY LANE, one Shilling Sterling carried over

I give and bequeath unto my Loving Wife, ELIZA: HARDWICH, to have ye full benefit of all and singular my Esate real and personal for and during her natural life and in case my Wife, ELIZA HARDWICH, should marry again, then my Will is that she shall have no more then what the Law allows her and the remainder of my
      Estate to be equally divided between my two Sons, THOMAS HARDWICH & JAMES HARDWICH to them & their heirs for ever;
      Item. My Will and desire is yt: my Loving Wife, ELIZA: HARDWICH, to be my whole & sole Executr. of this my Last Will and Testamt., revoking and disarmulling all other Wills heretofore by me made allowing & confirming this to be my Last Will and Testament this 12th day of June 1749

At a Court held for the said County on the 31st day of October A.Dom: 1749 This Last Will and Testamt. of JAMES HARDWICH, deced., was presented into Court by ELIZA: his Relict and Executrx. therein named who made Oath thereto as the Law directs, and being proved by the Oaths of WM. McKENNY & VINCENT McKENNY, two of the witnesses thereto, is admitted to Record; And on mocon of the sd. Exor. & her performing what the Law in such cases require, a Certificate is granted her for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form
