At the Request of John Ramsey Hodges the following Bill of Sale was Recorded 21st day of June 1790
Know all men by these Presents that I William Mockbee of Prince Georges County and State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the Sum of Seven Pounds fourteen Shillings Current money to me in hand paid by John Ramsey Hodges of this county and State aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged Hath given granted bargained and Sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain and Sell unto him the Said John Ramsey Hodges his Heirs Executors Administrator and assigns forever Two feather Beds two Sows & 3 Shoats half Dozen flag bottom Chairs a Save two Leather Trunks one Pewter Dish half Dozen plates three Basens a Sett of China Cups & Saucers a Teapot & a Gun unto him the said John Ramsey Hodges his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns forever To Have and to Hold the said two feather Beds two Saws & threes Shoat half Dozen flag bottomed Chairs a Safe two Leather Trunk one Pewter Dish half dozen plates three Bason a sett of China Cups & Saucers Teapot & a Gun unto him the Said John Ramsey Hodges his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns forever and the Said William Mockbee for himself his Heirs Executors Administrators the above bargained and sold unto him the Said John Ramsey Hodges his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns will warrant and forever defend against all and every person or persons claiming or pretending to claim any Right Title or interest of in or to the Same or any part thereof by from or under me the Said William Mockbee my Heirs Executors or Administrators or any other person whatsoever In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Twenty first Day of June one thousand Seven hundred & Ninety

The State of Maryland Prince Georges County to wit Be it Remembered that on the twenty first day of June Seventeen Hundred and Ninety Personally appeared William Mockbee part to the within Instrument of Writing before us two Justices of the Peace in and for the county of Prince Georges and Acknowledged the Same to be his Act and Deed and the Goods & Chattles therein Mentioned to be the right Title Property & Estate of him the Said John Ramsey Hodges his Heirs and Assigns forever According to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of Assembly in this case made and Provided Before

1, Thomas Ramsey Hodges --son
-to have all the land on which he now lives lying on the east side of Collington being part of a tract of land called "Thorpland-
2, Charles Ramsey Hodges --son
-to have all of testator's land purchased from Edward Digges being 1 part on the west side of Collington and 1 part on the east side of Collington --except for the meadow that is now cleared and enclosed on the east side of Collington and the water mill together with 12 acres all lying on the west side of Collington
3. John Ramsey Hodges --son
Joseph Ramsey Hodges --son
-to have the lands excepted from the devise given to Charles to be divided equally between them
-to have the land whereon testator now lives being part of a tract of land called "Brock Hall" and to be divided equally between them w/ Joseph to have that part with the testator's dwelling house
-John narned executor of the will
4. Charity Hodges -daughter
-to have 1 sorrel mare and 1 cow and calf, I ewe and lamb
-to have Negro man "Harry" and Negro girl "Bett" and the Negroes to work on the plantation where testator now dwells as long as sire remains single
-to have and occupy her room which site always occupies in testator's dwelling house as long as she remains single

-to have the sum of 1. shilling each having already been sufficiently provided for their father

-testator desires that they act as overseers of the will
