Ignatius Gardiner, Will, January 7, 1835; October 8, 1839
I Ignatius Gardiner of Prince George's County being weak and low in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding
Imprimis; I give and devise the plantation on which I now live being part of "Gardiner's Meadows" which I purchased of Thomas Mundell, trustee for Isidore Hardy unto my son Sylvester Francis Gardiner on the condition that he pay unto my son Ignatius W. Gardiner the sum of 300 dollars and 3 equal and annual payments after my death. And I also give unto my said son Sylvester 1/2 of the 106 acres of land which I lately purchased of Philip J. Ford
Item; I give and bequeath to my grandson John Ignatius Gardiner s/o Walter one Negro man named Richard
Item; I give and bequeath unto my grandson George Washington Gardiner s/o Sylvester one Negro boy named Samuel
Item; I give and devise unto my grandson Ignatius Gardiner s/o Aloysius the plantation on which Elizabeth Gardiner his mother now lives called "Indian Fields" and also 144 acres of land which I purchased of the estate of my late son Aloysius by whatever name it may be called and also 1/2 of the 106 acres of land I lately purchased of Philip J. Ford. It is my will and desire and the condition of this device that his mother Elizabeth Gardiner in his four sisters Henrietta Gardiner, Emily Gardiner, Sarah Ann Gardiner and Mary Jane Gardiner have their single life estate in said land.
Item; I give and devise unto my son-in-law Sylvester Boone that part of "Gardiner's Meadows" lying to the right of the road leading through my land from Mattawoman Run to Piscattaway supposed to be about 6 acres providing that he give them all his title to a small piece of land lying to the left the said load to my son Sylvester F. Gardiner
Item; I give and bequeath to my son Isadore Gardiner 50 dollars to be paid him by my executor
Item; I give and bequeath unto the Rev. pastor of this congregation whomever it may be at the time of my death 30 dollars to be paid him by my executor that he may long remember me in his prayers
Item; I give and bequeath to my son George Gardiner my saddle horse, saddle and bridle at the time of my death
Item; I give and bequeath and divise all the rest and residue of my estate real personal and mixed which I may be possessed of at the time of my death to be divided into 6 equal parts and distributed among my children and grandchildren, that is to say; my son Ignatius Walter Gardiner; my son Sylvester Francis Gardiner; my daughter Elizabeth Ann Gwinn; my son-in-law Thomas Gwinn; my daughter Elizabeth Boone, who is to have and enjoy the use of this 6th part during her natural life and at her death to become equally divided between her children of my deceased son Aloysius Gardiner, namely, Henrietta Gardiner, Emily Gardiner, Sarah Ann Gardiner, Mary Jane Gardiner and Ignatius Gardiner; the children of my deceased daughter Hetty Dyer namely George Dyer, Ellen Dyer, Mandy Dyer and Mary Jane Dyer to have one 6th lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son George Gardiner's sole executor of this last will and testament. In testimony all of which I hereunto subscribed my hand and seal this January 7, 1835, Ignatius Gardiner
