      LANCASTER COUNTY, VIRGINIA, 14 DEC 1687. (Court Orders) May it please your Excellency. In obedience to your Excellency directed to this court for the returning an account of all such persons that are able to bear arms both for horse and foot service in this county we have duely examined ye list of the freeholders and housekeepers Inhabiting ye said county and we do, find upon ye due enquiry that many of them are very poor despicable persons. We have returned your Excellency the full number expressed by your order as followeth.

      - It appeareing to this Court that WILLIAM PRICE at the time of his decease stood indebted unto Mr. JNO: TAVERNER in foure hundred and fifty pounds of tobacco and caske p Bill, the said PRICES Estate THOMAS NORNSER haveing illegally possessed himselfe with as not administering according to Law, It is therefore ordered that the sane bee forthwith : paide by the saide NORNSER with : costs

      - Whereas it appeares to this Court that THOMAS NONRSER, late of this County, stands indebted unto Capt. JOSEPH BALL in foure hundred and forty pounds of tobacco and ca: p ballance of one Bill of Eight hundred and sixty pounds of tobacco and ca: and removeing himselfe out of this County arth:out satisfieing the same, the saide BALL obtained an Attachmt. against the saide NONRSERs Estate in this County which saide Attachmt. as appeares by the returne thereof was executed upon one red pied Cow markt wth: a Crop and two slats of the right care & a crop of the left care and Calfe of the same marke belonging to the saide Cow; the slide Cattle belonging to the saide NONRSER, and running in the woods, the saide NONRSER appeareing and makeing nothing appeare paide of the saide Debt., Judgemt, is therefore granted unto the saide BALL against the same soe attached wth: costs als exe. It is ordered that if the saide NONRSER doe betweene this and the last day of January next pay the saide tobacco and costs, that then the saide NONRSER to have the saide Cattle

      - Whereas it appeares unto this Court that THOMAS NONRSER, late of this County, stands indebted unto HENERY PULLEN in eight hundred eighty and foure pounds of tobacco and ca: and removeing out of this County wth :out satisfieing the same, the saide PULLEN obtained an Attachmt, against the Estate of the saide NONRSER in this County, which saide Attachmt. as did appeare by the returne thereof was executed on one Steere of three yeares old and one Heifer of the same age markt wth: a crop and two slitts of the right eare and crop of the left eare and a p:cell of tobacco, the quantity unknowne, being the Estate of the saide NONRSER, the saide NONRSER appeareing and makeing nothing appeare paide, Judgemt. is therefore granted against the same soe attached wth: costs als exe., It is ordered that if the saide NONRSER doe betweene this and the last day of January next pay the saide tobacco and costs, that then the saide NONRSER to have the sde.       - Whereas it appeares to this Court that THOMAS NONRSER, late of this County, stands indebted unto STEPHEN TOMLYN as marrieing the Executrix of NATHANIELL BROWNE, (deced), in one thousand pounds of tobacco and ca: for Rent, and removeing out of this County without satisfieing the same, the saide TOMLYN obtained an Attachmt. agst. the Estate of the sde, NONRSER in this County, which saide Attachmt. as appeases by the returne thereof was executed upon two black pied Cows with white feete and one black pied Cow Calfe wth: a white face markt wth: a Cropp and two slats of the right eare and crop of the left ease, the saide Cattle being the Estate of the saide NONRSER, and running in the Woods; the saide NONRSER appeareing and makeing nothing appeare paide, Judgemt. is therefore granted against the same so e attached wth: costs als ex, It is ordered that if the saide NONRSER doe betweene this and the last day of January next pay the saide tobacco and costs, then the saide NONRSER to have the saide Cattle

      14 February 1694 - John Bertrand and Thomas Norser are involved in a land dispute. Bertrand owns the 500 acres which was once granted to Thomas Powell in 1650. (p. 280 & 282).
